ALLARD K1 ROADSTER 1947

Registered in 1947. V 8 engine 4000. FIVA ID card.A couple of years before the beginning of the Second World War, a Ford dealer in Clapham, Mr. Sidney Allard, built a dozen of Ford engined cars to compete in hill climbs and speed trials; the early production was interrupted by the war, but, at the end of forties, Allard resumed building his competition cars and in 1946, with a bodyshape streamlined and produced by Godfrey Imhof, this wonderful two seater roadster was born; it was the  Allard K1, the most accelerative road car of its day. Of course, the four litres V-8 engine, the uncredible 3 speed gearbox and all the mechanical components are American, but the marvelous alluminium bodywork, such as the classic wooden facia and the vintage Brooklands steering wheel are very very British. Our black SH 8025 is a very peculiar item; it's fitted with a tuned engine, a Holly carburettor, and a couple of very noisy competition exhausts. It's really a rare car that was built in only 151 examples until 1948, it's in proper original condition with a fine history and a wonderful grey interior.
