HRG 1500 Sports Ex-Betty Haig

HRG 1500 Sports, first registered on 4.05.1949 with original number KPO 961, chassis W189 and Singer engine of 1,496 cc.
As you can see in Ian Dussek's book, this is the proper car that the famous racing driver Mrs. Betty Haig commissioned to Automarine Co., after appreciating the performance of this model during the 1948 Alpine Rally, won by Robin Richards and John Beaumont with the black "JGJ 80", the car we already owned and raced about four years ago. Mrs. Haig, who at that time had driven some important racing cars like Frazer Nash and MG, asked Guy Roberts, one of HRG partners, to have a a very peculiar car with some personal modifications: the windscreen was raked much further back than normal and the wings were constructed to her own specification, giving the car its own distinctive appearance. With this "one off" example, Betty was competing in a lot of important racing events in 1949 and in 1950 at Goodwood and Brighton, taking the car to success also in some local hill climbs. Accompanied by a good amount of historical papers, the car is in excellent condition, with a fascinating patina all over the original livery, its genuine blue body matching with the red chassis, the deep red wheels and the pristine interior. A very nice sixty years old Britsh lady!
